More than a Sum of its Parts

While working on a migration project with a customer, I was reminded again that ICT is like a living organism, and especially that whole is greater than the sum of its parts.  By treating the singular components of IT in isolation, your risks of failure grows exponentially. Doctors have to work in a similar manner.  A patient can show multiple symptoms affecting different parts, and each can’t be handled in isolation. You can’t just rely on the networking guy, or just the server guy or the programmer. Everything is connected to everything else.  A change in one part of your environment will have an impact on connected parts.

The way that the ICT landscape is ever transforming, this realisation becomes more and more relevant. I want to give a shout out to @fransherle for being that Doctor for our customers. #DrSalt #onsgeeom #saltessentialit
